The Brasil Ride is a seven day mountain bike stage race disputed in teams. This race can be compared to the largest ultramarathons in the world, providing competitors with everything they need; hydration points, food, camping, technical support and medical support while athletes are only concerned with cycling. Each race day averages 80 to 100 kilometers of the purest mountain biking.
We met on the day of the starting package pick-up, but the pair of us really hit it off!
“We learnt a lot during these days, a lot of information, from managing to ride with someone I didn’t know, who spoke another language and had another culture, as well as managing a mega-hard race, in unusual weather, as we had temperatures above 50 degrees.”
“We had an unforeseen incident on stage 4, where I thought I wouldn’t be able to go on in the race, and when we separated we were penalized by adding 1 hour to our total time. Even with the unforeseen event, we finished (separately). This took us out of contention for P3 overall, but it didn’t take away our desire to finish/compete with the same intensity for the remainders of the event.”
“Finished the mixed team category in 4th place. Managing P3 podiums and one P2 podium on individual stages.
I’d like to thank everyone who came along and cheered us on. This support does us a lot of good, it gives us energy!”
